Kriya Lendzion
The Art of Teen Whispering-Turning Cringy Conversations Into Real Connection
Kriya Lendzion helps adults break through the silence that so often defines the teenage years. Drawing from decades of work with thousands of teens, she explains what is happening in the adolescent brain when conversations shut down and shares 12 research-backed skills that create real connection. Parents, educators, and youth leaders will learn what to ask, what not to say, and how to become the safe, trusted adult a young person will actually talk to.
Kriya Lendzion emerged from her own personal journey through teen addiction with a fierce dedication to helping transform adolescence from a time of risk into a springboard for lifelong thriving.
Over the past three decades, she has worked across the youth behavioral health landscape as a school counselor, adolescent therapist, addictions clinician, and prevention specialist - partnering with parents, schools, and communities worldwide to help young people avoid and shift self-destructive behaviors.
Her work has spanned a wide range of settings and populations, including pregnant and parenting teens, adolescents involved in the juvenile justice system, students at risk of dropping out, and those navigating school re-entry after expulsion. She spent 23 years as a middle and high school counselor with diverse students, and has led college wellness and substance use programming. Her clinical experience includes addiction treatment with both adolescents and adults, as well as residential mental health treatment for teen girls.
She now empowers adults to create these same connection-driven relationships, helping young people become addiction- resistant in an increasingly risky and addictive world.
Today, Kriya provides private therapy and early-intervention coaching for adolescents and their families, while also training educators, parents, and youth-serving professionals across the globe. Her clients include school districts, public health departments, and prevention coalitions, as well as organizations such as Hazelden Betty Ford, the DEA, the Georgia Department of Education, and the American School Counselor Association.
Through decades of hands-on work, Kriya has forged an expertise in the art of “teen whispering”- understanding how to build the kind of trust and influence with youth that fosters their receptivity, engagement, and healthy decision-making.
